Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), made the remark Wednesday in an address to the 14th conference of Muslim world scholars in Damascus, Syria.
He added that true dignity comes from God and is given to those who are at the front of the truth.
Today, he said, this dignity is seen in the resistance front, namely Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and others.
Elsewhere, Ayatollah Araki said the victories of the resistance front in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and other Muslim lands promise a brighter future for the Muslim world.
Another speaker at the conference was Syria’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed who said the main reason behind the enmity of the US and Saudi-backed Takfiri groups against Syria is the Arab country’s pursuit of moderate Islam.
Iranian Ambassador to Syria Javad Torkabadi also addressed the event, underlining the need for unity among Muslim world scholars.
Some 500 Muslim scholars from different countries are attending the international gathering in the Syrian capital.
It has been jointly organized by the office of the Leader’s representative in Syria, the WFPIST, and Syria’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs.
